Title: Adventures of a Continental Drifter
Author: Elliot Hester
Genre: Travel
Date Read: August-ish
Anna’s Rating: 4/5
Summary: Hilarious book about backpacking around the world.

Warning: this book inspires severe “traveler’s itch”. That said, anyone who enjoys a good adventure across international boundaries will enjoy and, likely as not, relate very well to this book. I was laughing out loud in my hotel room in Thailand whilst reading it.
The most memorable line, IMHO, came from his time in Brazil: “I went to a riot where a soccer match broke out.” His perception of the events that unfold around him are great - he has an excellent sense of humor, which is all but a necessary tool for such travel, otherwise you would spend all of your time bitter, miserable, and angry at the entire world.
I should write a book like this. I could totally do it, I simply lack the funds. But I think people would enjoy my insanity. Take a year off from teaching and hit the road…oh, even right now, thinking of it, the temptation stirs within me, a mixture of excitement and queasiness located in between my heart and my gut. I may yet do it, one day…just waiting to win the lottery.
